Who we are and why we exist....

NextGen Women Professionals (NGWP) is dedicated to helping teenage girls in underserved communities connect with and learn from women professionals.

Young people growing up in lower-income areas have less access to female professional role models in a wide variety of fields such as law, medicine, engineering or accounting. Girls from lower-income areas face unique hurdles trying to gain career-path employment, let alone break into professional fields that are historically dominated by men.

That is why it is beneficial for girls to have access to female professionals who could help educate them about careers they may not know exist.  Girls learning about these careers from active professionals, particularly from diverse women professionals from a diversity of backgrounds, can provide a world of knowledge that just can't be taught in the classrooms. In more wealthy neighborhoods, girls often have access to parents and or people in their networks who are working in these fields. The webinars we offer are both educational and inspiring.

NGWP can help expose girls to opportunities that they wouldn’t know existed and can create mentorship and networking opportunities along the way.

We work with school districts, nonprofits, and community organizations to help us connect with girls who could be interested in our program.

About the founder...

NGWP’s founder, Samantha R. Kayne, served on the Hamilton County Commission on Women and Girls. (2023-24)  In her role as Student Chair of the Social Mobiility Committee, she worked to alleviate some of the barriers to mobiliity young women face in lower-income communities, including a lack of access to business opportunities, particularly in a County that is home to some of the country’s largest firms and corporations.  NGWP is an idea that generated from her experience on the County Commission that has grown into an organization that seeks to address a gap between these young women and the knowledge female professionals have that can help them lead the next generation into the professional work world. While there are many wonderful mentoring programs, Samantha saw something missing – networking and professional education provided by women that the girls can relate to.
